Show and Tell Friday

Last week I went out to some thrift stores. I actually was surprised to find holiday items there.

This beautiful Christmas print is in a vintage frame and I fell in love with it immediately.

This unique piece is for Easter...a bunny teapot? Not exactly. The lid opens and it's a savings bank. I love the bunnies and couldn't resist picking it up. Great Easter decor item.

Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny, all dressed up in their Sunday best and ready to celebrate the holiday. Wouldn't this look great on a shelf with other Easter items?

I bought these items and have listed them in my Etsy shop. Great holiday finds. Hope you enjoyed seeing them.

Thanks to Everyone

Thanks to everyone who posted their concerns about my scare. I did follow up when the doctor got back from holidays on Tuesday and apparently it was nothing serious. What I did was strain too hard in my attempt to do something and the blood left my head and went to my feet. When the blood made it's way up my body, it felt hot...really hot. Because the blood had left all the cells in my skin, they had expanded. Instead of the blood going to my brain, it went to the skin's blood cells first. I didn't know there is not enough blood in our bodies to provide the skin and the brain when skin cells are expanded.

To make it clear in layman's terms, I fainted, but didn't fall down because I clung to the door frame. lol Otherwise I'd have been out cold on the floor, but I'm a fighter and didn't give in to it. It was indeed scary.

I'm still a bit shaken up. The doctor said it can take up to a week for our body to return to normal after a fainting spell. I'm just glad to know it's nothing serious.

That said, my next appointment with the doctor is in March and I will be asking him to order an EKG to check my heart. Haven't had one in years. I have blood work done all the time so am not asking for that.

Thanks again everyone. I'm truly blessed to have such loving and caring friends here in blogland.

A Scary Thing Happened

The last couple of weeks I've been really tired and not feeling my usual self. On Saturday something happened that was really very scary. I'm glad the boys weren't here because after seeing Grandpa take a stroke, they didn't need to see what happened to Grandma.

It was Saturday afternoon, just after lunch. I'd had a bowl of soup and a tuna sandwich. I felt fine. Suddenly my feet got very hot. I thought my blood was boiling. Then this sensation crept up my body right to my head.

I thought I was going to faint and called hubby. I was leaning against the door frame to keep myself in an upright position. My vision was a bit blurry and I was very weak and felt nauseous. I made my way to the kitchen and sat down. I asked hubby to get me a cold wash cloth, which he did. I put that on my face and felt a little better, but was having trouble breathing. I sent hubby for my inhaler out of the medicine cabinet and took two puffs. That helped a little.

I had to go and lie down but asked hubby to stay in the room for a bit. I was not comfortable with what was happening to me. He brought me two ativan, which I sometimes have to take for anxiety. It wasn't long until I fell asleep, but had asked him to keep an eye on me.

An hour and a half later, I woke up and felt much better, but still very weak. Later in the day I had a bad case of indigestion. About this time I was wondering if it was my heart. That passed and I felt better.

I called the nurses line that is available to Ontario residents. She asked me if I'd taken my blood sugar. I told her that I did when having the spell because I wondered if I was having a blood glucose low. It was 11.2. She asked me to take it for her again while I was talking to her and it was 14.6. She told me to drink 4 glasses of water in the next 4 hours. When that time had passed, my blood glucose was 8.5, so it had come down a lot.

Don't know what happened, but it scared me and hubby half to death. Still feeling a little weak. Please forgive me if I haven't been by to visit.

Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day weekend.
